Low-level Laser Therapy for Hair Loss Treatment

When thinking of lasers, the image of sci-fi movies and aliens pops-up in the mind. However, with advancements in technology, lasers have developed a lot and moving out of the sci-fi movies, they have successfully captured the healthcare industry. Medical science is one of the large beneficiaries of laser technology. Lasers have many uses in medical science, ranging from hair growth to hair removal to skin tightening and skin rejuvenation. Let us see how laser can help in hair regrowth treatment.

What Is Laser?

Laser is form of concentrated light of a particular wavelength. In medical science, laser works by targeting specific chromophores (components of human body that absorb light). Three major components in human body that absorb laser light are:
  • Melanin (In skin)
  • Hemoglobin (In blood)
  • Water
When these components absorb laser light, heat is produced. This heat is capable of destroying unwanted cells, removing unwanted water, and resurfacing the skin.

Laser and Hair

When the words laser and hair are used together, the first thing that comes into our mind is laser hair removal. No doubt, laser hair removal is a famous and probably the most commonly sought cosmetic procedure. However, laser is becoming popular in growing hair as well. This laser is known as low-level laser.

What is Low-level Laser Therapy?

While high-level laser is used to heat, cut, and burn tissues to achieve certain medicinal objectives, low-level laser is used to heal the tissues. Unlike high level lasers, low-level laser are not destructive. Doctors have been using low-level laser therapy for a long time to heal wounds.

Bad Habits That Can Lead To Hair Loss

Causes of hair loss is a very broad topic as there are dozens of factors than can cause anybody to shed his or her thick silky strands at any time. Ranging from your genes to hormonal imbalance to nutritional deficiencies, anything can cause you to lose your locks. While genetics and hormonal factors are not under control, there are certain factors and habits of yours that are very much in your hand. Try to overcome these bad habits if you are to maintain a thick and healthy hair profile.

1. YOU REMAIN STRESSED OUT

Stress is one of the most common causes of temporary hair loss. Taking too much stress actually changes the growth cycle of hairs, forcing a lot of the hairs to undergo dormant state. If you have experienced some serious physical or emotional trauma in the recent past, the resulting stress could cause hair loss. Three B’s are considered to be the root cause of emotional stress. These include break-up, bereavement and bankruptcy. Remember, hair loss caused by stress and trauma, also known as Telogen effluvium, is never immediate. In fact, it occurs several weeks and at times even months after a stressful event. If you are shedding hairs, just think back over the last few months to see if there was any stressful event or not. If yes, then the good news is that it is just a temporary phase and your hair will grow back once the stress is over.

Natural Remedies for Hair Loss

Hair loss is very common! You can never understand the grimness of this statement until and unless you yourself are the victim. Nothing can be more frightening and worrying than watching a brush full of hairs or the bathroom drain clogged with your silky tresses. Here are some not-so-common yet really effective natural solutions for hair loss.

Coconut Milk

Coconut is one of the richest sources of protein and hair-growing plant derivatives. You can easily grab a coconut oil from the nearest drug store. But they mostly contain chemicals and preservative. To prepare your own, all natural coconut milk at home, grate a fresh coconut milk. In half cup coconut flakes, add one cup water and simmer it on low flame for 5 to 7 minutes. Now strain the mixture to separate the flakes from the milk. Bring it to room temperature and then massage it into your scalp. For best results massage coconut oil on the scalp twice or thrice a week.

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera is most commonly known for skincare, but it is also very effective home remedy for hair loss. You can apply fresh aloe gel directly to the scalp to treat itchiness, dryness and dandruff. Alkaline aloe gel also helps balance the pH level of your scalp. Massage the gel directly into the scalp and leave it on for at least a couple of hours and then rise off with lukewarm water. Repeat this twice a week for a couple of months and you will notice significant improvement in your scalp condition.
  • Aloe Vera Anti Hair Loss Shampoo: Mix fresh Aloe Vera gel with equal amounts of coconut milk and wheat germ oil in a clean bottle with a lid to secure. Shake well and use it to wash your scalp daily or every other day.

Step By Step Guide To FUT Hair Transplant

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) is one of the oldest hair transplantation techniques ever used for surgical hair restoration. Also known as strip removal method, FUT is different from the modern FUE method graft harvesting only, while the plantation phase is the same. Unlike the latter, in which the surgeon extracts each graft individually, FUT involves cutting a linear strip of hair bearing skin from the balding resistant area of the scalp – either back or sides of the head. The strip is then carefully dissected under a stereo-microscope to obtain follicular units of desired size for implantation. You may be finding it difficult to understand these technical terms. Here is a step by step guide to FUT Hair Transplant to help you understand the procedure in a non-technical way. Continue reading to familiarize yourself with the procedure.
  1. Planning For Surgery

At The Hair Transplant Center, we ask our patients to reach the clinic early morning – around 8:30 am. It is necessary that you have a good breakfast. As you reach the clinic, you will be asked to fill a consent form for the surgery. Don’t worry; our staff will be there to help you with form filling. Then your will once again brief you about the procedure. Our photographer will also take photographs of your hairline, which we will use to demonstrate the before and after difference, following your surgery.

Surgical Hairline Restoration Techniques

There are two methods that are most commonly used for surgical hair restoration, namely Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). These two methods differ in the way they extract donor hair follicles from the donor area. As far as the plantation of the extracted hair into the recipient site is concerned, there is no difference. Let us briefly describe the both procedures so that you can have a better understanding of this popular surgical treatment of receding hairline.

FUT Hair Transplant or Strip method

Follicular Unit Transplant, aka Strip removal, is considered traditional hair extraction method. Its name is quite self-explanatory. To obtain hair follicles for plantation, a strip of scalp is removed from the donor site. This strip contains all the hair follicles needed for transplantation. However, this strip is not planted as a strip. Instead, individual hair follicles are separated from the harvested strip by excising it under a powerful microscope. Once hair follicles of desired size have been obtained, they are planted into the areas of hairline that have started showing signs of baldness.

FUE Hair Transplant Method

FUE uses a different method to extract donor hair. Rather than cutting a linear strip of scalp, it uses a small punching tool to extract each follicle individually, without causing much trauma to the scalp tissues. The tool surrounds the hair follicle from all sides and extracts it without damaging it. Since it does not involve strip cutting, it is less invasive than the traditional FUT hair transplant. However, since each follicle is extracted individually, it is a time consuming procedure that requires a lot of time and effort of the surgeon.

One benefit that makes FUE hair transplant a standout hair transplant method is that it has enabled the surgeons to extract hair follicles from any part of the body. Many hair transplant seekers with limited donor hair on their heads are using this method to extract hair from different body parts like chest and legs, and plant them into the head.

Side Effects of Hair Regrowth Products

Hair loss and baldness is one of the most commonly reported cosmetic issues that affect almost every person, at least once in his or her life. A bald or balding head can slump anyone’s self-esteem, as hair is an important part of one’s appearance. Baldness can add years to anyone’s look and make them appear non-fertile and non-vital. Hair loss is mostly associated with old age but nowadays young boys (in their early 20s) are also suffering from receding hairline and thinning crown, courtesy poor diet and improper hair care.

Early stage hair loss is often controlled using hair regrowth products. Some people with severe baldness also opt for oral and topical medications, just because surgery haunts them. If you also think hair regrowth products are better than a hair transplant surgery, then think again! Hair regrowth no doubt offer a non-invasive and relatively inexpensive solution for hair thinning, but they bring with them a host of serious side effects. Besides that, the results of these products are also temporary. As soon as you stop use of these medicines, hair loss symptoms start returning. Mostly, the hairs grown during treatment also fall out as soon as the treatment is discontinued.

Side effects of hair regrowth products are mentioned below. Continue reading to know more about the risks and complications associated with hair loss medications.

Different Types of Hair Loss in Women

Hair is much more than mere strands of fibers for women. Long, short, straight, curl, bouncy and sleek are just some of the words that women use for their hairs. Research has also shown that hair and self-image are closely related. No doubt, hair helps a woman to define herself and possess an ability to make her either happy or sad. Yes, good hair days make women happy and bad hair days make them sad. If a mere hairstyle can affect a woman’s mood, hair loss can be a disturbing situation to face every morning.

Female hair loss shows itself as a general thinning of hairs from around the scalp and widening of central part. It is most commonly occurring hair loss pattern in women. However, some women also show male hair loss pattern in which they start losing hair from the crown. Unlike men, women do not have receding frontal hairline.

Hair Loss in Females:

1) Thyroid Issues:

Thyroid is a gland in human body which produces hormones. These hormones play a significant role in regulating many processes throughout the body. Over secretion or under secretion of gland affects hair growth cycle and ultimately causes hair loss.

Hairline Restoration Procedure in Saudi Arabia

Hair transplant is a great blessing for millions of people suffering from hair loss. One of the initial signs of hair loss is a receded hairline. If you are also seeking an effective receding hairline restoration procedure, look no further than a hair transplant surgery. Most of us know that a hair transplant can grow natural hair on our bald head. However, many of us do not know how a hair transplant actually helps get those natural looking hair back. If you are also interested in knowing receding hairline restoration procedure, you have come to the right place. Here we will explain the procedure in a non-technical way so that you can understand it easily.

Principle behind the Success of Hair Transplant:

Donor dominance principle is the key behind success of hair transplant surgery. One thing that you need to understand about surgical hair restoration is that it does not create any new hair follicles. Instead, it redistributes the existing hair on your scalp in a way that your head starts looking lush and full. There are certain areas of your head that grow hair which are resistant to baldness i.e. hair at these areas do not fall even due to Androgenic Alopecia as well. These include the back and sides of our head. A hair transplant focuses on extracting these balding resistant hair follicles from the back or side of the scalp and transplanting them to the balding areas. Since donor hairs retain their balding resistant characteristics at the recipient area as well, they do not fall out quickly.

How To Treat Androgenic Alopecia In Men

Nobody can sit idle and see hairs leaving the head one by one! Going bald by choice is one thing, but being forced to go bald is the most frustrating situation one can ever come across. This is why, people try every option available to stop their hair loss and regain lost hair. Androgenic Alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss in men, affecting over 70% of men at some point in their lifetime. This type of hair loss occurs due to androgenic miniaturization of hair follicles, and most of the times this follicle miniaturization is irreversible.

There are numerous really effective surgical and non-surgical treatments for Androgenic Alopecia patients. Here, we have shortlisted some good options to help you regain healthy hair with full confidence, so that you are not scammed and you get the most out of the time and resources spent.

2. Surgical Hair Restoration

Surgical hair restoration, aka hair transplant surgery, has numerous benefits over nonsurgical hair restoration. In fact, surgical hair restoration is the only way to grow natural hair on a completely bald patch. A hair transplant surgery does not grow new hair follicles; instead it relocates the existing healthy hair on your head. It takes hair from a balding resistant area – back or sides of the scalp – and plants them in the affected area. Since the donor hairs are harvested from balding resistant areas only, the transplanted hairs do not fall out soon. In fact, these transplanted hairs retain their balding resistant characteristics at the recipient area as well and generally stay on your head for the rest of your life.

Scalp Massage After A Hair Transplant

Hair transplant post operative care is crucial when it comes to the outcome of the surgery. There are dozens of questions that we are asked daily by our prospective hair transplant candidates, but one question that is asked by almost every individual is massing the scalp. Since massaging is a time tested technique of enhancing blood circulation in the scalp, people believe that massaging the operated scalp will help speed up the healing process through efficient blood supply.

Nevertheless, there is one class which is totally against massaging scalp after hair transplant as they fear doing so will cause the planted hair follicles pop out of the scalp. Now this leaves the individuals confused about the right time to start massaging scalp after hair transplant. If you are also confused, then just relax. You have come to the right place. Here we will share with you when you should start massaging scalp after hair transplant.

Fue Hair Transplant Process in Saudi Arabia

 Follicular Unit Extraction Procedure

In FUE or follicular unit extraction a specially designed punch tool is used to make a tiny, circular hole at the donor site to free the hair follicle from surrounding scalp tissue. This punched follicle is then carefully extracted from the scalp and stored in an artificial storage medium like a saline solution. The surgeon keeps repeating this punching procedure until enough number of hair follicles has been extracted. This may take 2 to 3 hours.

Once enough follicles have been extracted, the surgeon moves on to plantation phase. The recipient site is first prepared by carefully crafting tiny incisions at specific angles. The angle of incision determines the direction of transplanted hair so this must be done very carefully. The surgeon then carefully inserts the prepared follicles into these incisions to complete the FUE hair transplant surgery. FUE hair transplant is a slow and lengthy procedure that takes several hours for its completion. In case of severe baldness, it may take several sessions spanned over several days to achieve the fuller and thicker look. - See more at: http://thehairtransplantcenter.com/hair-transplant/how-fue-hair-transplant-process-works/
